Where the Swiss Unwind

To choose the best of the best for your vacations in Switzerland can be a constant battle. Each guidebook lists top experiences and must see attractions, especially for the time-pressed traveller that wants 'to see it all' in the shortest time possible.

Oeschinensee in the Kander Valley
One of the most romantic and beautiful spots in the Swiss Alps - Lake Oeschinen

This guide though is geared toward visitors who bring a little more time for their vacations, want to go deeper, see, and experience a region more thoroughly.

Each region offers a little something different, but whatever area you choose, you can't go wrong. Of course, it all depends on your preferences and what you want to do and experience during your holiday.

The whole of Switzerland is undeniably beautiful. Villages and medieval cities look as if they've escaped a storybook. History rich heritage sites and a landscape carpeted with farms, vineyards, sparkling lakes, forests, and a wreath of some of the highest mountains in Europe compete with each other.

Switzerland's scenic beauty has drawn visitors to its peaks for more than 150 years, and traders crossed the mountains long before that. The result is an extensive road and rail network that enables visitors to discover each corner of the country in great comfort.

What is where?

I hope this map will help you plan your vacations in Switzerland. A mouse-click will bring you to the region you want to know more about. Right now it looks a little barren, but I will add more and more information over the next few months (or years ;-).
