The Swiss Food Festival is a gourmet event where 1 Michelin star awarded and 16 top GaultMillau celebrity chefs of Zermatt prepare and present the best culinary creations with regional and Swiss produce. They might be competitors during the rest of the year, but on these three days they work hand in hand to create epicure delicacies.
Venues are two first class hotels - Grand Hotel Zermatterhof and Le Petit Cervin - and food stalls along Bahnhofstrasse and on the church square in Zermatt.
A special treat expects you on Sunday morning: enjoy a breakfast in a gondola of the Matterhorn-Express with an impressive view to the Matterhorn and surrounding area.
When and Where
Friday You will be taken 'behind the doors' in small groups where you can see chefs at work. Evening "Kitchen Party", including dinner, aperitif and wines: CHF 238. Reserve your spot through their website;
Public culinary street event with local products, food preparations and market stalls. Prices for food start at CHF 10;
Start your day with a breakfast in a gondola that will whisk you up to the Matterhorn glacier paradise. Weather permitting, you will experience sublime views. Additional delicacies are served at the stations Furi, Schwarzsee and Trockener Steg. Adults: CHF 63.80, children 9-15 CHF 48.80.
Meeting point at the Matterhorn-Express Valley Station between 8:30 and 9:15am.
Sunday afternoon The 46th Zermatt Folklore Festival is a large open air fest with approximately 50 different music groups, 1200 costumed dancers and grand parade.
Venue: Bahnhofstrasse - Obere Matten - Church Square.
Both these events take place every year on the second Weekend in August in Zermatt.
