Family Trip to Switzerland

by Deepali
(Fl, USA)

We are arriving in Zurich on May 23rd morning at 8:00 and departing on May 28th at 12:00 from Basel to Mumbai, India.

Travelling with 2 kids(8 and 10)and 4 adults(2 senior citizens).

Want to cover most beautiful places and some snow covered mountain tops.

Planning to stay in Zurich all days and travel to different places back and forth.

Want to visit Mt.Titlis, Pilatus, Rigi, Lucerne, Jungfrau, Interlaken, Zermatt.

Will that be too much to cover in 5 days?

Should we stay in Lucerne instead of Zurich as these places are near from Lucerne?

Thank you,

Family Trip to Switzerland

Hello Deepali,

To be frank, this is too much to cover in five days. Switzerland is maybe small but there's much to see and travel from point to point takes time.

Stay in Lucerne. Most of your planned excursions are around Lucerne, so I wouldn't stay in Zürich. Titlis, Pilatus and Rigi will take up three days.

Then travel via Brünig-Hasliberg to Interlaken Ost. How to make the most out of this trip see here (scroll down to "Lucerne to Interlaken Ost")

Stay in Interlaken (Ost or West) while exploring the Jungfrau Region.

I fear you have to skip Zermatt this time :).

Spend the last night in Basel before your flight home. Trains are usually on time, but delays occur and I wouldn't risk to miss the mid-day flight home. Basel is a wonderful city to explore.

Enjoy your Swiss holiday!
