This is the ultimate classic trek across the Swiss Alps between Chamonix and Zermatt - from the foot of Mont Blanc to the foot of the Matterhorn. The Alpine hiking tour takes you through lush meadows, fir forests, and picturesque villages; you skirt glaciers and hike along glistening lakes and experience commanding views and alpine wildlife; manage steep ascends and cross challenging passes. This is alpine hiking at its best in the glorious and breathtaking mountains of Zermatt and the Jungfrau region. Cable cars and cog wheel trains take you to the top of the mountains from where you will hike along easy trails past glistening lakes, and through alpine meadows and experience some of Switzerland's most beautiful waterfalls. You'll visit the Jungfraujoch with Europe's highest railway station on a train excursion and you'll take an easy hike on Europe's longest glacier, the Aletschgletscher.

Hiking level: Moderate. Some trails have steep drop-offs but are well maintained though you've got to be sure footed.

Appenzell has very distinct traditions that only can be experienced here and nowhere else in Switzerland. The canton is known for its lush and exquisite green landscape and is dominated by the Alpstein massif with towering limestone pinnacles and its highest peak, Mount Säntis. You'll hike on panoramic trails with stunning views as far as Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany. You'll overnight in mountain huts and hotels and ones even on a working farm. The last day is crowned by a guided eBike ride through the lush Appenzell landscape with a stop at a cheese dairy to fill up on calories.

Easy hikes and an easy bike ride will let you discover the scenic splendor of Lucerne, the Jungfrau region, Gruyères and Zermatt with its prominent peak, the Matterhorn. Even though these regions are well loved by tourists, you'll visit undiscovered places, experience pounding waterfalls, immerse yourself in the alpine culture and learn the art of cheese and chocolate making at the source. You'll ascend on gondolas and descend on a zip line and scooter (if you wish) or on foot.
